A little about me....
A keen gardener all my life, in 1992 I gained a Diploma in Garden Design with distinction from The English Gardening School, based in Chelsea Physic Garden. Since then I have run my own garden design practice. Projects have ranged from small courtyard gardens to country gardens of over 12 acres. I also undertake commercial work including designing a garden for a new Christian Scientist Church, a courtyard for a Design Centre and exterior landscaping for a large office complex in North London.
I am a registered member of The Society of Garden Designers, established in 1981 to provide a professional body for garden designers and promote excellence in garden design. I also teach gardening and garden design at West Dean College, Chichester where I am Garden Courses Organiser.
My philosophy is to work closely with the client and interpret their ideas into a manageable and attractive garden. I particularly like to integrate the garden into its surroundings with plants and materials appropriate to the character and location of the site.
Why use a garden designer?
A well designed and planted garden will give years of pleasure to the owners and add to the value of the property. A professionally trained garden designer will interpret the client’s brief with flair and imagination and can reduce both the time and costs of maintenance whilst creating a garden which is in harmony with its surroundings.
And about the cost?
Using a garden designer is often less expensive than you might imagine. An overall design can be implemented in stages according to budget and save you from making costly mistakes at the outset.
